Enfants du Mékong
Children of the Mekong
This mural was created for the reception area of the Enfants du Mékong center, a key space where staff and supported youth come together. Serving both as a welcoming entry point and a dining area, this place deserved a decoration rich in meaning and inspiration.
The artwork celebrates the core values of Enfants du Mékong: solidarity, transmission, and growth. It is deeply rooted in Cambodian culture, with strong symbolic references. The yellow flowers depicted are ruomdoul, Cambodia’s national flower, a symbol of grace and resilience. The hand adorned with a bracelet represents an apsara dancer, an iconic figure of Khmer culture, embodying elegance, tradition, and spiritual connection to ancestors.
The illustrated hands express universal gestures: helping, sharing, and creating. They also emphasize the importance of education and the transmission of knowledge, which lie at the heart of the NGO’s mission. Together, they tell a story of strong human connections and hope for the future.
With its vibrant colors and cultural references to Cambodia, this mural transforms the center’s reception area into an inspiring space that reflects the work of Enfants du Mékong in supporting youth on their path to a brighter future.
